In the quiet times, you listen so carefully.

You listen to see if you can hear the sound of heaven opening up to let another soul in.

You listen to see if you can hear the sound the snails make as they leave their trail of silver as they walk.

You listen to see if you can hear the tornado created by the flap of the butterfly’s wing.

You listen to see if you can hear your heartbeat skipping triple time to keep you moving and shaking and hoping and dreaming.

You listen to see if you can hear the creaking and moaning of the house telling stories of the changes it has seen both inside and out.

You listen to see if you can hear what an idea sounds like when it is being formed.

You listen to see if you can notice the moment a pulse quickens when someone falls in love.

You listen to see if you can hear the morse code messages in the crumpling of a newspaper.

You listen to see if you can hear when a baby’s gurgling turns to words.

You listen to see if poor and rich make a different sound.

You listen to see if a comet’s tail makes a whip cracking sound.

You listen to see if inspiration has a voice.
